Dear Customers,

Please take notice of this announcement, as it pertains to all accounts that are currently still running PHP 5.6.
PHP 5.6 became end of life(EOL) on December 31, 2018. For some time now security patches and updates are no longer available for PHP 5.6. We have tried to extend the availability of PHP 5.6 for some time, because of customers that are still running websites that were made a while back and have not been updated to be compatible with PHP 7.

PHP 7 is more secure, uses less server resources, and is therefore also faster then previous versions of PHP. PHP 7 also has new features. More information about those features can be found at https://blog.appdynamics.com/engineering/everything-you-need-to-know-about-php-7/. Since the launch of PHP 7 (dec-2015), there have been various versions,
PHP 7.0 (EOL 3-12-2008), PHP 7.1 (EOL 1-12-2019) which in the mean time, are also deprecated.

There will be features that are deprecated from PHP 5.6 to PHP 7.3. We suggest that you update the PHP code used on your account immediately or check with your web- designer or developer. It is most probable that you will find that changes are required for your code in order to function with PHP 7.3 or PHP 7.4 Customers that use a CMS (such as WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, WooCommerce, Magento, Shopify, PrestaShop, Blogger, AbanteCart or many others) will need to check that their existing version and plugins(if used) are compatible with PHP 7.3.

Switching the PHP version your applications are running on can be done through your control panel. From within cPanel navigate to Multi PHP Manager Check the box for your domains and choose PHP 7.3 (ea-php 73) and apply. PHP 7.2 and PHP 7.4 will also be available, but we recommend you to use the latest version possible for your website.

We have already started the process of removing PHP 5.6 from our servers. The default version of PHP will be 7.3. Due to the security risks involved, we will not have any servers offering PHP 5.6 after August 2020, nor will we be able to grant any extensions. Please take action now and update your website.

If you have any questions or need suggestions, please don't hesitate to contact us by support ticket.
